(Calgary, Alberta - October 13, 2014) NovAtel Inc. today announced that it has been awarded a contract by the United States Army to demonstrate the effectiveness and suitability of GAJT-700ML™ and GAJT-AE™ for the US Army. This contract was awarded based on NovAtel's response to the US Army Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF) Broad Agency Announcement (W911NF-13-R-0011 Technical Topic B).
NovAtel's GPS Anti-Jam Technology (GAJT®) is a null-forming system that protects military and civil GPS receivers from jamming and other interference. GAJT enhances military capability by ensuring protected use of GPS for Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT). The GAJT-700 ML is a single-enclosure, anti-jam antenna while GAJT-AE provides the antenna electronics for a Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna (CRPA).
The US Army Communication-Electronics Research Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC) will procure a number of GAJT-700MLs and GAJT-AEs and will oversee the testing. Field testing is expected to take place at Aberdeen Proving Ground. During testing, CERDEC will analyze GAJT's mounting and integration design with applicable equipment and its overall unit performance with integrated systems. The process is expected to be completed by March 28th, 2015.
The Rapid Innovation Fund provides the US Department of Defense with the authority to fund programs that address innovative technology to resolve operational challenges or other critical national security needs.
