DL-V3 Input Voltage Protection

The DL-V3's upper input voltage limit is spec'd at 28 VDC. Any voltage above that will trip an internal overvoltage protection circuit, and the DL-V3 will not run at 30 VDC. It will survive overvoltage levels up to 50 VDC. Airborne customers have been known to use DC-DC converters with inline voltage and current filtering to step the voltage levels down to 12 - 14 VDC and to protect the GPS receiver from transient spikes on the aircraft's power supply.
