News release

"With more reliable ambiguity solutions and faster convergence across all baselines, AdVance RTK delivers significant improvements in performance across many applications, including challenging environments such as urban canyons or foliage canopies. We believe this new engine will raise the standard for precise positioning technologies today. AdVance RTK will be the performance baseline for future GNSS technology developments."
Pat Fenton, CTO for NovAtel

Highlights:

AdVance RTK delivers significant performance enhancements, including more reliable ambiguity solutions and faster narrow lane convergence on short, medium and long baselines.

  • Faster Time to Narrow Lane (TTNL) at all baseline lengths
  • Ambiguity fixing out to 40+ km
  • More fixes in all conditions than old engine
  • Higher fix reliability
  • Same interface and commands as previous engine
  • Available on OEMV-2 and OEMV-3 receivers

Time to ambiguity resolution on baselines up to 20 kilometers is virtually instantaneous. AdVance RTK continually monitors and determines when additional filter states may be required based on longer baselines or larger elevation differences. AdVance RTK offers fixed solutions at baselines up to at least 40km with very competitive time to resolution. Performance at the longer baselines varies depending on actual baseline length and environment at the rover. The following figures illustrate these fast resolution times on short and medium baselines.

Performance accuracy is consistent with NovAtel's previous engine with the 1cm + 1ppm specification being maintained for baselines shorter than 10km and in open sky conditions. Using AdVance RTK, the accuracy performance improves noticeably when the baseline increases past 10km or with partially obstructed view of the sky at the rover. In these non-optimal applications, AdVance RTK provides significantly more correct fixes and corresponding improved position accuracy. Both figures below show that AdVance RTK delivers correct solutions and maintains expected positioning accuracy during foliage testing. In contrast, the old RTK engine clearly shows some incorrect solutions.
