GPS Systems Engineer (6 month contract) - #5686

Vice President Product Development - #5685

Responsibilities:
You will lead the product development team of 90 to 120 resources, with approximately 9 direct reports, and will be responsible for performance management and people development. You have ultimate accountability and authority for the product development and introduction process, including project performance and are also in charge of major engineering elements of new product introductions, with a focus on meeting the main objectives for the project (key features/quality, timely introduction, price, cost and first 6 month sales volumes). This includes the design, validation, approval/certification and transition into manufacturing. You are responsible for key technology and platform strategies for each of the major product lines, addressing the market segments that NovAtel is focused on. These activities include strategic review of technology needs of various segments, and longer term planning to address these needs (involves acquiring key technologies required, and validation of new technologies prior to commercialization etc.). You will ensure that key GNSS engineering competencies of NovAtel are continuously developed to maintain a leadership position in the market (specific competencies include algorithms work and ASIC capabilities), and you will ensures robust architectural and systems design for all major product developments. You will participate as a key member of the business leadership team and provide departmental administration including budgeting, staffing and communications, and will manage a development budget of approximately $12M.

Qualifications:
You have an engineering degree, along with a minimum of 10 years experience in a high tech, product development environment. You have direct experience in ASIC and embedded firmware product development. Experience in New Product Introduction and current time-to-market processes would be desirable, and direct experience with GPS products would be a definite asset.

Director Product Management - #4201

Responsibilities:
You will guide a team of marketing product managers that is focused on the creation and fulfillment of a product roadmap. This includes looking for new opportunities and markets for existing products, as well as making recommendations for new products. You will direct the product management process, including working closely with the Product Management team to define market requirements and ensure the consistent use of the product life cycle process. You will also partner with Engineering to ensure those requirements are met, and with Sales to deliver products as expected. Specific duties will include:

Qualifications:
You bring a strong leadership vision, combined with the ability to turn ideas into action, business savvy resulting from extensive experience in product management, a passion for product development, and the skills to inspire and communicate effectively. You have the following:

  • ten years of relevant product marketing experience, directly managing a product management group as a major benefit
  • a graduate degree in a technology or business related field
  • experience working for a mid to large size public company
  • experience working with hardware and or software products positioned at the OEM level

Mechanical Engineer - #5683

You will design commercial electronic enclosures from concept to production for advanced GPS systems. This will include designing mechanical parts and assemblies to meet form / fit / function requirements while considering the following areas: aesthetics, man-machine interface, PCB requirements & interfaces, cabling requirements, DFM / DFT / DFA, EMI suppression, thermal / shock / vibration / humidity / reliability, safety and cost. You will also provide support for legacy products.

Minimum Qualifications:
You have a mechanical engineering degree with a minimum of 3 years design experience, along with a high degree of skill with Pro/engineer or equivalent 3D CAD package, Pro/Intralink or equivalent database management tool. You have demonstrated technical skills in design, analysis, testing, and problem solving, a sense of responsibility and initiative to drive designs to production combined with a detailed nature to ensure work is accurate and complete. You have demonstrated strong time management, communication and teamwork skills.

Ideal Qualifications:
You have a mechanical engineering degree with 10 years of design experience combined with leadership experience. You have a system level perspective and are capable of interfacing with other groups such as PCB and industrial design. You have extensive knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing techniques such as plastic injection molding, die-casting, sheet metal, rapid prototyping, cable assembly, etc. You are experienced with new product introduction (NPI) and electronic package design and have demonstrated success as a proactive self-starter capable of seeking out challenges and opportunities based on business needs.
